Would you like to share music with your friends and family? If so, I’ll show you how to use the iTunes home sharing feature to stream and transfer music from your iTunes library.
Sign in with your iTunes account and turn on the home sharing feature.
File > Home Sharing > Turn On Home Sharing
This will let you stream your music on other devices and it’s the first step towards transferring music.
You’ll be prompted to sign in with an iTunes account. If you don’t have an iTunes account, click on the register button to sign up for one. Once you’ve signed in and turned on home sharing, you’ll need to repeat the same process on the device you want to transfer / stream music to. If you want to transfer music you will need to sign in with the same iTunes account on both computers. If you want to stream music you can sign in with a different iTunes account.
You can start streaming and transferring music once you’ve signed into both devices with an iTunes account. Turn on the side bar (ctrl + s) and look for the shared devices section.
You should now see a shared library (either yours or a friend / family member). If only streaming music, click on the library and pick a song you’d like to listen to. If you’d like to transfer music, right click on the song and click “copy”.
Go back to your own library and click on the music tab.
Paste the music and click “I authorize this computer” to complete the transfer.
